About
The Texas America250 Exhibition was a campus-wide public history initiative celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States through the lens of Texas history. Working in partnership with the Library's Senior Special Collections Librarian, I coordinated the exhibition opening, campus outreach, marketing, event planning, and public engagement surrounding the exhibition.
As my first major collaborative project at Texas A&M International University, I worked closely with Special Collections & Archives to showcase the library's unique historical collections while increasing awareness of the department among students, faculty, staff, and community members. The opening reception featured university leadership, invited speakers, historical interpretation, and opportunities for visitors to engage directly with the exhibition and archival materials.
This project strengthened collaboration between Outreach & Assessment and Special Collections while demonstrating how exhibitions can serve as powerful tools for teaching, community engagement, and increasing the visibility of archival collections.

This project marked my first opportunity to collaborate directly with Special Collections and Archives after joining Texas A&M International University. Working alongside the Senior Special Collections Librarian reinforced my interest in using exhibitions to connect archival collections with broader audiences. It also demonstrated how strategic outreach and assessment can increase awareness of special collections while supporting the library's educational mission. The experience strengthened my desire to continue developing exhibitions and public programs that make cultural heritage collections more accessible, engaging, and relevant to diverse communities.
